Funny that you refer LoL as SC2. Funnier yet that you act like you don't already have it. Even funnier than that is you used the word "buy".

I did, I did.

Graphics are pretty amazing. I finally feel justified in owing a gaming capable PC now...

Single player is classic Blizzard stuff.

They have some nice tutorials and challenges to help you prepare and learn what counters what.

I haven't done online or AI skirmishes yet.

The whole game is sort of wrapped in an online experience. You can view friends while playing single player, you have to be online to play your account and have it save.

The included stuff with this game is horrible though. I like colorful manuals and printed out tech trees and all that fun extra stuff. This game doesn't even have a manual... just a quick start guide that explains the back story... and the disk... in a paper sleeve (hate paper sleeves) and some note paper. For a 60 dollar game they could have upped the production quality on this... cheap money grubbers.

It did come with 2 guest passes, which let you play for 7 hours up to 14 days after activation... if any of you shadys are interested in trying it.

I also have the game.  I would have posted sooner if I had been paying attention.

While the game is heavily geared towards multi-player, it even includes a practice league so n00bs like me don't get completely owned by guys that have dedicated 10+ years of their life to SC.  The game also has many aspects to extend the single player experience.  Like all games, nowadays (for you Scrabble people...that is a real word),  SC2 comes chuck full of achievements.  And not all of them are related to the campaign, some of them are related to AI skirmishes, such as beating the Medium AI within 5 minutes. (Which I fail at, BTW, still beat down the medium AI but it's been more at the 15 minute time point.)

The campaign is much improved over the past campaigns of SC and WC.  This campaign includes multiple decision points such as what technology upgrades to purchase, what research upgrades to select, and what mercenary companies to hire.  The campaign also has slight story line branching.  I have not fully completed the campaign yet, but so far I have encountered two missions that yield different scenarios and unlock different units, depending on your choice.  Although I don't know what long term effects these choices have.

Beat the campaign last week end. Now playing a bit of multiplayer.

Still playing the 'practice league'... I've won twice lost twice.

Even though these matches are supposed to be for complete newbs... the two losses seemed to be against experienced players. They knew exactly what to do to beat someone on these novice maps. But you can play 50 of these practice matches before you start in the preliminaries of the 'main' multiplayer... so I'm sure there still people who stick in this to beat up newbs for right now.

I've also played some AI matches. The AI gives up after a certain point, you don't have to defeat their whole base... which I find funny. The AI even says "gg"...

You guys should pick this game up now... I forgot how much fun multiplayer starcraft is. It's quite a bit different from both Company of Heroes and even Warcraft III. Less fluff but more focused on a solid core... but that solid core is so good it doesn't matter that there isn't other things to distract it.

I finally beat the campaign... good story, at least for fans of the series.

SC2 does play a lot different than WC3 or either of the Relic series.  Personally, I prefer DoW2 because of the lack of base building.  SC2 has a balance of base building and unit management, a better balance than WC3 IMHO.  But SC2 is a solid game and has a very different feel, one that will probably keep me coming back for some time.
